This project was commissioned by the Royal Ballet London for their 2026 season promotional campaign. The concept was to capture the essence of ballet beyond the stage, focusing on the raw emotion, discipline, and beauty of dancers in rehearsal and performance. The black and white photography emphasized form, movement, and dramatic lighting, creating images that felt timeless and powerful. The project involved documenting principal dancers during three months of rehearsals, capturing intimate moments of preparation, exhaustion, and pure artistic expression.
The resulting collection of 50 photographs was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery and used for the season's posters, programs, and promotional materials. The campaign was praised for its artistic merit and emotional depth, winning a D&AD Award for Best Photography Campaign. The project also included a limited edition coffee table book that sold out within weeks of release.
